Cheers Ceramics

Nicola Cheers started Cheers Ceramics after completing a degree in design craft at Cumbria College of Art and Design. Whilst at College she became interested in various types of transport, in particular ships, boats and submarines. This interest manifest itself in a series of forms which attempted to illustrate in ceramics, the rust and decay that ocean going vessels eventually circum to.

The core of Nicola’s business has always been a range or fleet of ceramic submarines; she has also developed ranges of rockets, robots and aeroplanes. Each piece is hand built giving every object an individual unique appearance. Nicola’s work has been exhibited right across the UK and overseas and she has become a regular participant in the various ceramics fairs throughout the UK.

Nicola is supported in the production of her work and in business by Andy her husband. He can be found in the studio most weekends and in the evenings in the summer, assisting Nicola in her work and producing ceramic items of his own.
